## 1. Overview

FileFlow is a minimal on-device file toolbox. No account sign-in and no uploading of your files to our servers:

- **Batch rename** — prefix, suffix, sequence, subject replacement; files and folders  
- **ZIP compress / extract** — multi-select archiving; ZipCrypto password zip (premium) and password unzip  
- **Images to PDF** — reorder, rotate, merge into one PDF  
- **File browser** — browse sandbox, Downloads, Photos, iCloud, and user-authorized folders; run tools on selections  

**All processing happens locally on your device.**

## 2. Requirements & permissions

## 3. Getting started

### 3.1 Home screen

1. **Browse files** — in-app browser with multi-select and a bottom action bar.  
2. **Quick actions** — Batch rename, ZIP compress, Unzip, Images to PDF: pick items first, then configure and run.

### 3.2 File browser

Available locations (depends on OS and grants):

- **On device (this app)** — app sandbox documents  
- **Downloads** — authorize once via the system picker  
- **Photos** — in-app photo grid  
- **iCloud (this app)** — this app’s iCloud documents container  
- **iCloud Drive** — pick a folder (ideally the Drive root) in the system UI  
- **Add folder** — authorize other locations for repeat access  

Inside a folder, select files or folders and use **Rename / ZIP / PDF** in the bottom bar.

### 3.3 Batch rename

1. Select one or more files or folders.  
2. Set rules (prefix, suffix, replace subject, remove text, sequence start).  
3. Preview, then **Rename**.  
4. On-disk items are renamed in place; **Photos library items** are exported as copies with new names (the system does not allow renaming the original asset title).  
5. **Undo** is available for the last local rename batch.

### 3.4 ZIP

**Compress**

1. Multi-select, open compress screen.  
2. Edit archive name (prefilled from the first selection when applicable).  
3. Premium: optional **password** (ZipCrypto only; password stays in memory, never saved or sent).  
4. Share/save via the system share sheet.

**Extract**

1. Pick one `.zip` file.  
2. Enter password if encrypted (free for all users).  
3. Strong encryption (non–ZipCrypto) is not supported.

### 3.5 Images to PDF

1. Pick one or more images.  
2. Reorder thumbnails; tap rotate for 90° clockwise steps.  
3. Set PDF name, **Merge to PDF**, save via share sheet.

## 6. FAQ

**“No permission” for Downloads or iCloud?**  
Re-authorize via the card on the browser root screen. If you see “access expired,” add the folder again.

**iCloud Drive shows only one subfolder?**  
iOS security-scoped access limits browsing to **the folder you authorized and its children**. Long-press the iCloud Drive card to **change authorized folder** and select the Drive root in the sidebar when possible.

**Photo names unchanged after rename?**  
Expected: Photos assets cannot be renamed in place; FileFlow exports copies with new filenames.

**Move/copy/paste fails?**  
Open the **destination folder** first. External locations need valid security-scoped bookmarks.

**Daily limit reached?**  
Free tier: 3 full runs per local calendar day. Wait until the next day or purchase the full version.

**Unsupported ZIP encryption?**  
Only ZipCrypto is supported for create/extract in-app.
